The welding cart plans make the use of a popular and highly rated 6 drawer tool chest 13 x 24.5 x 43.5 on Amazon. I uprated the casters to suit the weight requirements. A great project for someone new to welding and needing a place for their new pride a joy.
This welding cart will be a valuable part of your shop. The heavy base of the welding cart will give it stability if you are using larger gas tanks for tig welding. Leave the toolbox in the base to maximize storage of consumables like contact tips or tungsten or remove to store you welding hood or spare welding rods or rolls of wire. The toolbox does add to the cost of the build but, the time saved in having everything at your fingertips will soon pay for its self.
Watch the build series of this very project to give you all the hacks from a professional welder of 20 years. I go into details that help speed up the build and give better results. I have put the thought in so you can just enjoy building your cart.
The plans are workshop quality with detailed drawings for each item and an exploded view with a key of each component.
If you want to learn how to draw welding cart plans yourself there is a link in the video to Joko Engineering channel where we have collaborated to help the DIY’ers first draw the plans and I show you how to MIG weld the welding cart.
I have designed the welding cart to use 1.5″ x 1.5″ x .125″ equal angle. The maximum length is 36″s so if you live a fair distance from a metal supply store you can take advantage of online metal distributors. .
